Role overview
An opportunity is available for an Executive Level 1 Assistant Director within a Federal Government environment, supporting financial accounting and reporting functions. This role sits within a finance and procurement function and focuses on administered reporting, compliance and technical accounting advice.
You will support the Director and lead a small team to deliver accurate financial reporting and meet whole of government requirements.

Our client operates within the public sector, delivering national services with a significant annual budget and complex reporting obligations.
Key responsibilities
* Lead preparation of financial statements
* Manage month end processes, including accruals and reconciliations
* Submit monthly and annual financial data through central budgeting systems
* Implement accounting standards and reporting requirements
* Oversee valuation processes related to compensation schemes
* Liaise with audit bodies and resolve audit findings
* Provide technical accounting advice across the organisation
* Contribute to process improvements within financial operations
* Prepare executive briefs, papers and submissions
Required experience and skills
* Demonstrated experience in financial accounting and reporting
* Strong understanding of public sector financial frameworks or similar environments
* Ability to lead and manage staff and deliver outcomes to deadlines
* Experience working with audits and compliance reporting
* Strong written communication skills for executive level documentation
* Ability to provide clear, evidence based advice to senior stakeholders
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting or related discipline, progress towards professional membership desirable
* Ability to obtain and maintain Baseline security clearance
