Key Responsibilities
* Assist the department manager in overseeing daily operations of the Fruit & Vegetable department.
* Manage and mentor team members, ensuring high standards of product display, stocking, and customer service.
* Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and ensure proper handling and rotation of fresh produce to minimise waste.
* Operate a forklift safely and efficiently for moving and organising stock within the market and storage areas.
* Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene standards.
* Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests promptly and professionally.
Must-Have Qualifications
* Proven experience in a retail fruit and vegetable department, ideally in a supervisory or assistant management role.
* Valid Forklift Operator Licence (a non-negotiable requirement).
* Strong knowledge of produce handling, seasonality, quality standards, and merchandising techniques.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and public holidays.
