Payroll Officer - Hybrid & Flexible | Chris21
Are you an experienced payroll professional looking to step into a fast-paced, supportive, and collaborative environment? This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation and play a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy for a diverse workforce of over 1,000 employees across Australia and New Zealand.
The Role
As a Payroll Officer, you'll take ownership of the end-to-end fortnightly payroll function using Chris21 (iChris), ensuring compliance with legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements. You will collaborate closely with HR and Finance to deliver a seamless payroll service, while also supporting continuous improvement initiatives and compliance reviews.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and process payroll for 1,000+ employees on a fortnightly basis
* Maintain employee records, contracts, timesheets, and leave data
* Interpret awards and enterprise agreements to ensure accuracy of pay, entitlements, and deductions
* Complete payroll reconciliations and contribute to month-end reporting
* Ensure compliance with PAYG, superannuation, STP, and other statutory obligations
* Partner with HR and Finance to maintain data integrity and reporting accuracy
* Provide timely, professional responses to payroll queries
* Support audits, process reviews, and ongoing payroll improvement projects
About You
* 1-3 years' experience in payroll within a shared services or multi-business unit environment
* Proficiency in Chris21 (iChris) and exposure to ERP systems (Oracle or similar)
* Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation; NZ exposure highly regarded
* High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality
* Strong communication skills with a collaborative, service-focused mindset
* Organised, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as in a team
