Maternal and Child Health Cultural Support WorkerLocation: Lakes Entrance, VIC, Australia, 3909Employment Type: Part timeSalary: $37.35 to $46.73 per hour, depending on qualifications and experiencePart-time with negotiable working hoursGenerous salary packaging options - pay less tax and increase your take home payAbout the companyGippsland Lakes Complete Health (GLCH) is a not-for-profit organisation that’s been helping East Gippsland residents to live well for more than 40 years.We’re one of the region’s most high-profile health and support service providers with more than 500 staff, 300 volunteers, and an annual budget in excess of $50 million.About the roleThe Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies and Enhanced Maternal Child Health (EMCH) programs form part of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service. Beginning in the antenatal period, the programs are designed to promote optimal health and wellbeing outcomes for families. The MCH Service has a clear direction to deliver primary and secondary health care and targeted support to maximise the health and wellbeing goals of Australian children.DutiesEncourage client engagement through assertive outreach.Ensure informed consent and participation in decision making to promote self-help and independence.Utilise family centred principles of empowering and encouraging in all client contacts.Enhance health, safety and well-being through community-based involvement and community support.Provide health education to enhance behaviour modification in areas such as substance use.Provide early intervention opportunities.Provide holistic, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that care is comprehensive and coordinated via collaborative case discussions with other supports engaged with client.Reduce the impact of vaccine preventable disease.Skills & ExperienceAboriginal Health Worker Certificate IV.Demonstrated ability to participate in or coordinate groups for parents exploring themes including infant mental health, depression, anxiety & parenting styles.Team CultureAt GLCH we believe our people are our biggest asset and pride ourselves on a culture that is equitable, encourages open communication and has an emphasis on recognition and career advancement.
