At Verbrec, you will directly influence the transition to renewable energy systems and decarbonisation. The Senior Contracts Administrator will be responsible for reviewing contracts for commercial and legal risks, drafting negotiation points, liaising with business and project internal stakeholders, and negotiating commercial and contract terms with clients and subcontractors to achieve best overall business outcomes. This role provides senior-level contractual guidance across multiple business units, including management of change, administration of contract obligations, and cost control. Reporting to the General Manager – South Australia, the role also involves the following responsibilities.
Responsibilities
* Conducting detailed reviews of contracts to identify commercial and legal risks, including terms & conditions, pricing, delivery and liability provisions, and drafting negotiation points for discussion with clients.
* Leading the receipt and review of tenders and contract drafts, ensuring timely turnaround and providing commercial recommendations to project teams.
* Identifying and assessing risk and non-compliance issues in proposed contracts, providing strategic advice to project managers and leading negotiations to resolve contractual concerns with clients.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal business and project stakeholders, providing proactive contractual guidance and acting as a key liaison between commercial, legal and operational teams.
* Managing insurance matters including liaising with insurers on claims, reviewing insurance provisions in contracts and advising project teams on coverage requirements.
* Providing whole of life contract management including scope and change management, extensions, rates reviews, reporting, dispute resolution and contract close-out.
* Leading the commercial aspects of the tender process including prequalification submissions and negotiation of contractual terms with clients.
* Overseeing the development and negotiation of subcontracts and managing commercial matters related to procurement and sourcing.
Qualifications
* Excellent communication and influencing skills – face to face, written and building relationships across all levels of the organisation.
* Proven experience within a corporate contracts environment, able to review contracts for risks and draft negotiation positions.
* Experience negotiating commercial and contract terms with clients, subcontractors and vendors.
* Strong analytical thinking and problem‐solving skills.
* High level computer literacy skills.
* High level of organisational and prioritising skills.
* A strong background in contracts or procurement in a related field such as engineering, consultancy or construction.
* A degree in a related field (such as business, law or engineering) is highly desirable.
To be successful in this role, you have significant demonstrated experience (5+ years) in contracts administration or a related field dealing with commercial and contractual matters, with both client and vendor facing experience, and demonstrated ability to negotiate commercial and contract terms.
