Senior compliance officer - regional government

Be part of a dedicated team delivering meaningful outcomes for the community in a picturesque region about 110 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. Our main office is located in Daylesford, a renowned and stunning tourist town surrounded by historical townships.

A Governance Coordinator role has become available to develop and implement governance strategies, policies, processes, and procedures to ensure organisational compliance with legislative obligations.


Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement governance strategies, policies, processes, and procedures to ensure organisational compliance with legislative obligations.
* Work across the organisation and with an established team to support the delivery of governance, information management, and insurance functions.
* Actively pursue improvement opportunities for innovation which supports the development of the compliance program and culture.
* Provide advice to the organisation and councillors ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
* Ensure the smooth running of all council briefings and meetings by coordinating administrative processes.
* Provide day-to-day oversight of the organisation's governance, risk, and insurance functions.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

* Demonstrated experience in governance, civic support, or councillor support in the local government sector.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload despite conflicting demands and complex interrelated issues.
* Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to quickly establish credibility and gain cooperation from stakeholders.
* Experience in developing and implementing governance strategies, policies, processes, and procedures in a political and sensitive environment.
* Knowledge of local government processes and procedures, particularly in the governance area.
* Proficiency with complex software and file management systems.
* Ability to research and prepare clear and concise reports, briefing papers, and presentations.
