Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced commercial lawyer to support the merchant energy legal team of a leading energy provider during a period of increased transactional activity. This role will focus primarily on contract drafting and advisory work across gas and electricity sales arrangements. We are ideally looking for a lawyer with a minimum of 4+ years post admission experience.
The engagement is anticipated to commence in January, offers the opportunity to work closely with a high‑performing in‑house legal team on commercially significant energy transactions.
Key Requirements:
* Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, ideally within the energy, utilities or resources sector
* Demonstrated expertise in gas and electricity sales contracts (merchant energy exposure highly regarded)
* Ability to operate autonomously in an in‑house environment and manage competing priorities
* Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills
* Availability to commence in January for a short‑term engagement
