Role Overview
The Electronics Technician / Production Manager plays a hands-on role in both the technical and operational aspects of the business. This position is responsible for building, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting our range of electronic products, while also managing component procurement and coordinating production activities to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
This role suits a technically strong individual who enjoys working across the full product lifecycle from brief to finished product. Ideally comfortable balancing bench work with production planning.
Key Responsibilities
Electronics & Technical
* Assemble, test, and commission electronic assemblies and systems
* Strong hand soldering skills - THT and SMD experience essential.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot electronic faults at board and system level
* Read and interpret electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
* Support engineering changes, repairs, and product improvements
* Assist with prototype builds and validation testing
Production & Operations
* Plan, manage, and oversee production staff
* 3-5 years of production management experience is required
* Coordinate production schedules to meet delivery requirements
* Maintain build documentation and work instructions
Purchasing & Inventory
* Source and purchase electronic components and mechanical parts
* Liaise with suppliers to manage lead times, pricing, and availability
* Maintain inventory levels to support ongoing production
* Assist with component selection and substitution
Required Skills & Experience
* Strong electronic troubleshooting skills at component, board, and system level
* Ability to confidently read and interpret electronic schematics
* Experience purchasing electronic components and working with suppliers
* Practical hands-on experience with electronic assembly and test equipment
* 3-5 years of electronics technician experience is required
* Unrestricted Australian work rights are required for this position
Desirable Skills
* Experience in automotive, heavy vehicle, or industrial electronics
* Familiarity with low- and medium-volume manufacturing environments
* Experience with M-CAD and E-CAD (Fusion 360, Solidworks, Kicad, Altium) very desirable
* Exposure to embedded systems, power electronics, or ruggedised designs
