RESPONSIBILITIES
The dental assistant plays a crucial role in supporting dentists and ensuring efficient clinic operations. The responsibilities of the dental assistant include preparing treatment rooms by sterilising and organising instruments, assisting the dentist practitioner during procedures and ensuring patient comfort. Additionally dental assistants develop x-rays, manage patient records, schedule appointments and ensure adherence to infection control protocols to keep a safe and sterile environment.
DUTIES
* Welcome and prepare patients for dental treatments.
* Organise and provide dental instruments, medications and other instruments to support the dental practitioner during procedures and dental treatments.
* Anticipate the needs of the dental practitioner during procedures by promptly handing over instruments and supplies.
* Process and develop X-Rays efficiently.
* Assist the dental practitioner by using suction equipment and water sprays during dental procedures.
* Clean and sterilise dental instruments and equipment.
* Maintain a sterile environment in the treatment area to prevent cross contamination and ensure infection control practices are adhered to.
* Carry out routine maintenance on dental instruments and equipment.
* Perform reception duties, including scheduling appointments, taking phone calls and handling patient enquiries.
* Maintain accurate patient records and update personal information.
* Manage billing processes and carry out other administrative tasks as needed.
