Upon commencing as a Diamond Driller's Assistant, you will be enrolled in a nationally recognised Certificate II in Drilling Operations, taking 18 months to complete. Once you have your Certificate II, we will enrol you in a Certificate III in Drilling Operations. All of this is provided to you with industry-leading training and expert trainers, to enable your development into becoming an industry leading underground exploration diamond driller, fast tracking your earning potential.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Handling inner tubes to retrieve core and empty into core trays;
- Repetitive heavy lifting of >20kgs;
- Housekeeping and maintenance of equipment, ensuring all workspaces are clean, including washing the LV at end of shift;
- Identify potential hazards and communicate immediately to the Driller or Supervisor;
**Minimum Requirements**:
- Current Australian manual driver's licence;
- National Police Clearance (within 3 months of issue);
- Clear ability to speak, read, write in fluent English;
- A proactive attitude toward safety and hazard identification;
- Ability to work 12-hour night or day shift work, and be away from home for two weeks at a time;
- Mechanically minded and excellent problem-solving skills;
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol screen;
- A positive work ethic in line with Barminco's vision and principles;
**Highly Desirable**:
- Previous experience as a drillers assist surface or underground drilling operations;
- First Aid Certificate;
- Previous experience in labour intensive, physical role;
