About The Role

As Head of Asset Management, you will build and lead a contemporary, high-impact asset management function, guiding how the city plans, invests in and manages its assets.
Responsibilities
* Lead Melbourne's Asset Future and oversee a $4.7 billion asset portfolio.
* Set strategic direction, policy frameworks and governance to enable assets to perform at their best now and into the future.
* Ensure work supports financial sustainability, enhances service delivery and creates meaningful outcomes for Melbourne's diverse and growing community.
* Connect asset planning with financial strategy, service priorities and climate resilience to enable evidence-based investment decisions.
* Elevate asset management maturity across the organisation, embed forward-thinking practices, and champion innovation for a resilient, inclusive and sustainable city.
* Collaborate across teams to deliver practical, value-driven outcomes. If you don't have direct LG experience, transferable skills are welcome.
About You
You're a senior leader with experience in asset management, infrastructure or capital planning in a complex organisation. You think strategically but focus on practical outcomes. You're skilled at bringing together asset planning, finance and service delivery to support clear, evidence-based decisions. You build strong relationships, influence stakeholders and work well across teams. You understand asset lifecycles, governance and long-term financial sustainability, and you enjoy improving how things are done. You're collaborative, forward-thinking and motivated to deliver real value for the community.
What Your Experience Might Look Like
* Extensive experience leading enterprise asset management functions across large, complex asset portfolios.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement asset strategies, policies and governance frameworks.
* Proven capacity to influence strategic investment and financial planning decisions.
* Strong analytical capability, with expertise in data-driven asset lifecycle planning and decision-making.
* Demonstrated leadership experience in building capability and leading organisational transformation.
