Overview
Structural Design Engineer role at Illawarra Mercury (MI Engineers). The successful candidate will join our Design & Project Management team in Wollongong, NSW to support project delivery of a wide variety of infrastructure design projects. Explicit communication and teamwork are essential.
Responsibilities
- All aspects of design in structural engineering, from technical design and documentation through to on-site completion.
- Prepare design sketches and details for drafting by technical staff; oversee design development and documentation.
- Undertake site inspections.
- Practice safety in project design and delivery, with quality checking and verification activities.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify issues with designs and communicate possible solutions.
- Lead and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience in a structural engineering design consultancy.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SPACEGASS; ability to hit the ground running.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Relevant engineering qualifications; Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or closely related field.
- Experience in management and mentoring of staff.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and design codes (AS 3600, AS 4100, AS 1170).
- Current Australian driver’s license for site inspections.
