About K&S Fuels:

K&S Fuels have been servicing fuel and lubricant requirements in the Southeast of South Australia for 60 years and are the only local fuel distributor in the region by operating out of 3 bulk fuel depots in Mount Gambier, Millicent and Naracoorte in addition to 7 retail service stations, as well as supplying several 3rd parties operated sites.

The Opportunity:

We're seeking a talented, passionate, and organised Chef to take charge of our busy service station cafe in Millicent. Our site serves locals, travelers, road trippers, and workers every day. If you enjoy creating great-tasting food, contributing to a welcoming roadside experience, this is your opportunity to make a real impact in a regional community setting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare the kitchen and cafe for service, ensuring all stations, ingredients, and stock levels are fully prepared and ready
2. Cook and serve a range of fresh, high-quality meals including breakfasts, lunches, snacks, hot foods, sandwiches, and daily specials
3. Coordinate and supervise kitchen staff and casual helpers to maintain smooth operations during peak times
4. Maintain exceptional kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards at all times (compliance with HACCP and health regulations)
5. Create and plan engaging menus, including innovative seasonal dishes that highlight fresh local produce and appeal to highway customers
6. Focus on consistent presentation, portion control, flavors balance, and customer satisfaction
7. Liaise closely with divisional managers and store leadership to meet operational goals, control costs, minimise waste, and drive food sales targets
8. Assist with stock ordering, inventory management, and supplier relationships as needed

About You:

9. Proven experience as a Chef (ideally in a high-volume cafe, roadhouse, pub, or similar fast-paced environment)
10. Strong skills in menu planning, seasonal dish creation, and innovative yet practical food offerings
11. Excellent leadership and staff coordination abilities – able to motivate and direct a small team
12. Passion for flavor, presentation, and delivering food that keeps customers coming back
13. Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices, and cost control
14. Reliable, hands-on, and able to thrive in a varied, all-day service environment
15. Available for full-time hours including early starts, evenings, and weekend shifts (roster flexibility appreciated)
16. Relevant certificates (Cert III/IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery, Food) highly regarded
