Operations Manager - Student Experience and Campus Services (RTO)

Applied Vocational Training (AVT) is a WA-based Registered Training Organisation (RTO) specialising in animal care, veterinary nursing and animal behaviour and training qualifications. With over 25 years of experience, we are passionate about shaping the next generation of animal care professionals and providing an outstanding student experience.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager for Student Experience and Campus Services to join our leadership team.

This role is central to ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across our campus and online delivery. You will lead student support services, oversee operational management, manage facilities (including our on-site animal care facility), and drive initiatives that deliver an exceptional student journey from enrolment to graduation and beyond.

Reporting directly to the GM, this role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a strong leader who can balance compliance, innovation, and a people-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor the Student Support Team to achieve student satisfaction, retention, and outcomes.
- Implement and manage student enrolment and student journey workflow processes to maximise satisfaction, course completions, RTO compliance, and office efficiency.
- Oversee campus operations, rostering, and WHS compliance.
- Working closely with the AVT Animal Welfare and Ethics Committee to oversee the on-site animal care facility, ensuring best practice welfare and compliance
- Work alongside Program Managers to co-ordinate supporting administration, HR, finance, and facilities related tasks.
- Develop, update, and communicate policies, procedures, and workflows, alongside the compliance team.
- Recruit, induct, and train new staff across student support and operations
- Build and maintain strong external relationships with industry partners and placement providers.
- Provide operational leadership and support to the General Manager.

About You

We are looking for a leader who is:

- Passionate about education, animals, and making a positive impact.
- Experienced in operations and student services within RTO
- Confident managing teams, facilities, budgets, and compliance processes.
- Proven skills in collaborating, building relationships, and communicating clearly with colleagues across teams and departments.
- Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable balancing empathy with accountability.
- Practical and proactive, ready to roll up your sleeves and step in wherever needed.
- Comfortable adopting new technologies to improve efficiency.
- Skilled in performance management and staff supervision.

Qualifications & Skills

- Sound knowledge of RTO practices in the VET sector.
- Minimum 3 years/' management experience in a similar role.
- Strong digital skills and a willingness to embrace AI and emerging technology.
- Experience in the veterinary or animal care industry (desirable).
- Facilities management knowledge (desirable).
