About the role

This position reports directly to the Chief Engineer, R&D at Tritium PTY Ltd and is based at Murarrie.

The successful candidate will work within the New Product Development (NPD) department, supporting the Chief Engineer in program managing the delivery of Fast and Ultrafast EV charger development, including associated subsystem programs such as EV charger module development (AC/DC and DC/DC modules). The Product Program Director is responsible for aggregating inputs from all relevant engineering stakeholders into a single source of truth to ensure error‑free program delivery that meets all technical targets, timelines, and cost objectives. A strong technical background, hands‑on approach, and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges across cross‑functional teams are essential.

Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

- Leading the cross functional engineering teams in the delivery of product programs from initial concept, through to industrialization, launch and into the marketplace (full cradle to grave accountability).
- Managing the entire landscape of a product program from scheduling, timing, costing, performance and competitiveness and the whole delivery of engineering Programs from initial concept, through to industrialization, Launch and into the marketplace (full cradle to grave accountability).
- Overseeing the Engineering community (from a product delivery perspective), ensuring that all commodity and attribute targets are met, delivering to agreed-to customer requirements, Tritium brand DNA and regional / global standards and regulations.
- Controlling the specification of the product program through Design Review, Packaging Assessments, Validation & Verification events, Releasing & Implementation meetings; preventing unauthorized program 'creep'.
- Running DJ (Data Judgement) events and sign releases to ensure all parts are fit for function and meet targets.
- Governing the product program according to Tritium's Product Creation Process, with all key gateways / milestones supported with clear data and status-to-target reporting.
- Developing whole product test plans, to demonstrate functional and attribute performance to meet design requirements and program targets (DV & PV).
- Working in parallel with the Quality team to ensure the required FMEA's, P Diagrams, Boundary diagrams are formulated into a suite of failure mode avoidance requirements that become inputs for the programs test plans and DVP's.
- Critiquing and validating individual DVP's to ensure the development tests are valid and meet program key gateways.
- Ensuring the prototype build timing, physical property quantities and specifications support the DVP requirements; ensuring adequate test parts are ordered for all proto build events.
- Leading the resolution of a product programs technical issues, working cross functionally to ensure the correct balance of customer requirements & attributes are achieved; The 'independent' Engineering arbiter for technical & performance related 'trade-off's.
- Ensuring attribute and technical concerns are closed within the timeframes dictated at each build phase of the program and the closure plans and solutions meet the defined targets.
- Proactively / pre-emptively identifying roadblocks and technical challenges, identifying solutions to keep effort on the plan and eliminating impediments to a programs success.
- Defining the technical resource requirements for successful program execution; flexing the plan as/when required (e.g rescoping the program in the absence of manpower / resource, to guarantee delivery on-time).
- Reporting program status; aggregating the various inputs and preparing the corresponding report out's for the weekly SMT meetings and/or monthly Board events; Communicating with senior management on program status, risks and issues in an appropriate and timely (proactive) manner.
- Supporting Product Management teams by adding technical excellence to proposals and presentations etc; managing the interface between the 'Customer' and Engineering and other internal interfaces (Sales Product Management Supply chain Manufacturing etc).
- Proactively identifying roadblocks and technical challenges, identifying solutions to keep resource on the plan.

About you

- Bachelor's or higher degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
- Fully conversant with the principles of Systems Engineering.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams, demonstrating profound leadership capabilities and self-awareness in a matrix organization environment.
- Ability to manage complex technical issues and balance often conflicting needs.
- Extensive experience managing projects across multi-disciplined teams; proficient with MS Project, Jira, and modern workplace collaboration tools (Office 365, etc.).
- Knowledge of both traditional Waterfall and modern Agile methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to draw conclusions from disparate data sources.
- Commercially and financially astute, with proven experience managing budgets.
- Capable of working effectively in reactive and high-pressure environments.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to optimize team performance and manage key stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent business writing and presentation skills in English.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail, effective multitasking, and time management.
- A proven ability to efficiently identify and solve problems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment
