We have an exciting opportunity for a temp to perm Product Support Technician for one of Perth's leading train maintenance companies based in Nowergup. This will be 3 months temp then transition to permanent.
**Duties**:
- Provide reliability support and guidance within the Engineering team.
- Support the Fleet Manager and other departmental managers/staff as required.
- Use fundamental electrical circuit knowledge to fault find railcar control circuit boards to the component level. This includes analogue and digital circuits from modern designs to designs 30+ years old.
- Use specialist tooling for electrical fault finding including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies and function generators.
- Perform rework and modifications of circuit board to OEM quality standards including both through hole and surface mount designs.
- Modify, diagnose and repair railcar components using fault finding guides and service manuals.
- Read electrical circuit diagrams and wiring diagrams for fault finding and repair purposes.
- Read, understand, and compare electrical component datasheets for fault finding purposes and to identify suitable replacement components in the event of obsolescence or supply issues.
- Review available electrical schematics and documentation and where required perform independent research/investigations to bridge documentation gaps.
- Reverse engineer PCBs to replace damaged or obsolete circuit boards
- WA 'A' Grade Electrical Licence
- Minimum Certificate III or IV (or equivalent) in electronics, instrumentation.
- Minimum 5+ years' experience working as an Electronics Technician or similar.
- Relevant trade experience in automation control systems, electronic circuit test and repair and/or equipment fault-finding and troubleshooting.
- Ability to use measuring tools e.g. oscilloscopes, multi-meters.
- Ability to read electronic or wiring diagrams.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Intermediate to expert level Soldering Skills (Milspec Connectors, PCB manufacturing, wiring joins etc).
**Advantageous**:
- Experience in PLC installations.
- Experience in microprocessor control and analogue systems.
- HV Motors, HV power control systems.
- Experience in instrumentation and variable speed drives (VSD's).
