This is an exciting opportunity to join Tweed Valley Hospital, your primary work location and a new, major referral hospital at the heart of the network of hospitals and health facilities across the Tweed-Byron region, also including Murwillumbah District and Byron Central Hospitals. The 723.3 million state-of-the-art hospital opened on 14 May 2024 and will deliver additional health services and bed capacity to meet the growing community's healthcare needs.
Tweed Valley Hospital has:
* currently 280 beds with capability to expand to 430 beds
* expansive outpatient facilities with opportunity to increase available clinics
* a fully capable emergency department with 42 treatment spaces
* an integrated cancer care service with radiotherapy
* 12 operating theatres
* a dedicated Learning, Development & Research centre located on campus, with modern library facilities
* End of trip facilities (showers etc) and free staff parking

Responsibilities and Requirements
The primary purpose of the Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) in the Emergency Department is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.
* Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment.
* Adept ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
* Adept written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team.
* Adept good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
* Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
* Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
