Aboriginal Health Promotion Officer Role
* This position requires the ability to collaborate with Aboriginal communities, internal stakeholders and healthcare professionals to develop, implement and evaluate sexual health promotion programs at a regional level.
* The successful candidate will ensure that health promotion practices within the organisation are grounded in sound population health principles and priorities, aiming to have the greatest impact on the community's health.
The Kimberley region has approximately 200 Aboriginal communities, over 34 different language groups and 45% of the population is comprised of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and implementing health promotion strategies in collaboration with Aboriginal communities and internal stakeholders.
* Evaluating the effectiveness of health promotion programs and making recommendations for improvement.
* Maintaining relationships with local Aboriginal communities and engaging them in the planning and delivery of health promotion programs.
* Collaborating with healthcare professionals and other organisations to share best practices and improve health outcomes for Aboriginal communities.
Preferred skills and qualifications include:
* Experience working with Aboriginal communities and understanding of their cultural needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
* Sound knowledge of population health principles and evidence-based practice.
