ERM – High Voltage Asset Specialists is a dynamic engineering firm based in Bassendean, Western Australia, delivering project-focused electrical engineering and design services across the mining, resources, and infrastructure sectors.
ERM operates across two complementary divisions:
A dedicated engineering and projects division, and a specialist workshop and field services division. This structure allows ERM to provide end-to-end capability, while maintaining a strong focus on engineering design, power system studies, and project delivery.
The engineering team supports projects from concept development and detailed design through to execution, testing, and commissioning, with specialist capability in high voltage systems, power systems modelling, renewable energy integration, and asset lifecycle management. Design and analysis activities are supported by advanced tools including ETAP, DIgSILENT, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
ERM's engineering capability is underpinned by a highly experienced team of 20+ Engineers, working closely with in-house workshop and field specialists. This integrated model enables practical, constructible designs and high-quality project outcomes for clients.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Perth, WA, for an Electrical Engineer specialising in High Voltage systems, with a strong project delivery focus.
The role will primarily support electrical projects, encompassing engineering design, power system studies, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and involvement through execution and commissioning.
Key responsibilities include:
* Electrical design and engineering support for projects across mining sector
* Power systems modelling and analysis using software such as
ETAP
and
DIgSILENT
* Supporting project execution, site activities, testing, and commissioning
* Collaborating with in-house R&D and senior engineers on innovative and complex engineering solutions
* Ensuring compliance with relevant standards including
MSIR, AS3000, and AS2067
* Providing technical input, problem solving, and engineering support to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
* Experience in
electrical design
(industrial, resources, or commercial preferred)
* Strong exposure to
High Voltage systems
, including generators, motors, transformers, and associated HV infrastructure
* Proficiency or working knowledge of
power system modelling software
such as
ETAP
* Working knowledge of
MicroStation
and/or
AutoCAD
* Experience contributing to
project-based engineering work
, including design, studies, execution support, and commissioning
* Ability to undertake fault finding,
Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
, and develop engineering solutions and maintenance strategies
* Familiarity with relevant Australian electrical standards (
MSIR, AS3000, AS2067
)
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills
* Ability to work effectively within
multidisciplinary project teams
