About the Role
We are looking for a Facilities Manager (FM) to oversee maintenance, horticulture, cleaning and minor building projects across the zoo, aquarium and Jamala Lodge.
* Lead a staff of 25 maintenance personnel, including tradesmen, horticulture workers and cleaning teams.
* Supervise the Horticultural Section, directed by the Horticulture Manager who reports to the FM.
* Manage the Checklist Section responsible for zoo and Jamala cleaning and presentation.
* Coordinate full‐time electrical and painting contractors, carpenters, welders and skilled labourers.
* Oversee operation and maintenance of 105 pieces of equipment and machinery, including an excavator, tractor, trucks, utes, elevated work platforms, bobcats, mowers, sweepers and buggies.
* Develop and manage the facility maintenance budget and enforce high standards of work ethic.
Qualifications
The successful applicant should have:
* A solid background in managing and coordinating a diverse team of maintenance workers and contractors.
* Experience with trade qualifications and/or a builder's licence (beneficial but not essential).
* Proficiency in budget management and the ability to enforce high standards of work.
* Strong references and a proven track record of delivering high‐quality work quickly.
