We are seeking an accomplished Director of Engineering to lead the engineering division. Previous Director Experience is deemed critical, and the position requires oversight of several planned capital expenditure projects. The resort opened in 1987 and consists of 295 guestrooms, 28 exclusive luxury villas, 4000sqm of lagoons, large guest swimming pool, award winning restaurants and bars and over 14 conference and meeting spaces. The resort is located on absolute beachfront.

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for end‑to‑end project delivery. Previous experience in extensive stakeholder management is highly regarded together with procurement, contractor management, workplace safety, quality control, and commissioning and decommissioning of plant and equipment. The successful candidate will ensure day‑to‑day operations; guest experience, and asset management are maintained with minimal disruption.

You will serve as the custodian of the resort asset in its entirety, reporting directly to the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Project & Renovation Leadership (Primary Focus)

* Ownership of full project delivery

* Lead tendering, bid reviews, contractor selection, and contract administration in partnership with ownership/asset management and procurement.

* Coordinate all trades and vendors (fire/life safety, low-voltage, access control, elevators, etc.) with strong site governance and daily/weekly reporting.

* Ensure commissioning, testing, and documentation for all building systems; warranty management.

Engineering Operations & Asset Protection

* Direct day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations for guestrooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities; maintain service standards throughout all projects.

* Maintain and improve preventative maintenance programs and long‑range asset protection plans; protect FF&E and building integrity.

* Oversee physical plant systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, water treatment, life safety, BMS where applicable).

Safety, Compliance & Risk

* Lead safety and compliance for engineering, ensuring adherence to all statutory requirements (building/fire codes, WHS/OSHA‑equivalent practices) and property standards.

* Own emergency preparedness for facility issues; ensure critical systems readiness and rapid response protocols.

Financial & Vendor Management

* Build and manage engineering operating budgets and capital forecasts; track and report variances; drive cost controls without compromising quality.

* Implement energy management and utility optimization initiatives; monitor consumption and identify efficiency opportunities.

Leadership & Stakeholder Partnership

* Provide clear, concise updates to senior leadership and ownership stakeholders (weekly dashboards, risk registers, milestone reporting).

Required Qualifications

* 7+ years progressive engineering/facilities leadership experience, ideally in full‑service hotel/resort environments, including capital project delivery.

* Demonstrated success leading major project (guestrooms and public areas) with strong contractor governance and operational phasing.

* Strong technical knowledge across building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, water treatment).

* Proven budgeting, forecasting, and cost control capability (OpEx and CapEx).

* Working knowledge of compliance, inspections, and life‑safety readiness.

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; calm and decisive in live operational environments.

* Candidate must have working rights in Australia.
