Production Technician (Electronics)

My client is currently building a team to support the manufacturing activities on a major rail programme of works.
They are seeking a production supervisor, production technicians and production assemblers.
The Production Assembler is responsible for the accurate and efficient assembly of train wiring harnesses and associated sub-assemblies to support our client's delivery obligations under the programme of works. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to quality and safety standards, and the ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or electrical trade assistant role.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and follow work instructions.
Good manual dexterity and familiarity with hand tools and electrical assembly tools.
Strong attention to detail and quality of workmanship.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work to production deadlines.
Desirable
Experience in wiring harness assembly or automotive/rail/electrical manufacturing.
Basic computer skills for job tracking and reporting.
Forklift licence, EWP, or other factory-related tickets.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly & Production
Preparation of materials and components for assembly on various production lines.
Assemble electrical harnesses and components using jigs, fixtures, and approved work instructions.
Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly procedures.
Assist in jig setup, harness handling, and changeovers between different car types.
Maintain production output to meet daily/weekly build schedules.
Quality & Compliance
Undertake and document quality checks as per procedures and checklists.
Conduct self-checks to ensure workmanship meets company quality standards.
Record time spent on different jobs as required under contract tracking.
Participate in quality audits, inspections, and rectification of non-conformances.
Follow ISO****, IPC/WHMA-A-620 (where relevant), and quality procedures.
Safety & Housekeeping
Follow safe work practices, use PPE correctly, and report hazards immediately.
Ensure work areas, jigs, and tooling are kept clean, tidy, and free of obstructions.
Contribute to maintaining a safe workplace culture.
Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
Work collaboratively with supervisors, fellow assemblers, and apprentices.
Support new team members with training and guidance where appropriate.
Suggest improvements to processes, tooling, and workflow to enhance efficiency.
