The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) Level 1 within the Drug and Alcohol (D&A) Service is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the coordination of patient care, unit operations, and staff management across the Opioid Treatment Units.
The NUM leads multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, timely, and high-quality care, with a strong focus on assessment, prevention, and early intervention. This role ensures efficient use of resources, manages service demand, and aligns operations with the strategic priorities of Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD). As a clinical leader, the NUM upholds professional standards, fosters a culture of safety and collaboration, and drives excellence in patient outcomes, staff engagement, and service delivery.

In the Shoalhaven, ISLHD operates three hospital sites: David Berry Hospital, Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital and Milton Ulladulla Hospital.
