We are looking for two enthusiastic Publishing Advisors with legal backgrounds to join our publishing team, who play a key role in improving access to justice. Our team is focussed on the accurate, timely and legally safe publication of judicial decisions to public access sites and ensuring all decisions comply with suppression and privacy laws. You will be an integral part of the wider Judicial Libraries team, interacting regularly with the judiciary, Ministry and courts staff, the legal profession and the public.

Job Description

Advisor Publishing, Permanent Full time

Wellington - 2 x permanent positions

We are looking for two enthusiastic Publishing Advisors with legal backgrounds to join our publishing team, who play a key role in improving access to justice. Our team is focussed on the accurate, timely and legally safe publication of judicial decisions to public access sites and ensuring all decisions comply with suppression and privacy laws. You will be an integral part of the wider Judicial Libraries team, interacting regularly with the judiciary, Ministry and courts staff, the legal profession and the public.

Key Duties Include

* Reviewing court decisions to ensure they comply with suppression and privacy laws before publication.
* Anonymous, peer-reviewing and publishing tribunal decisions to ensure compliance with relevant policies and laws.
* Investigating and responding to queries and case requests submitted by users of Judicial Decisions Online (JDO).
* Involvement in team projects and process and service improvement initiatives.

Ō Pūkenga/Skills And Experience

* A legal qualification.
* A good understanding of legal principles including statutory prohibitions on publication, or the ability to quickly grasp the legislative requirements around judgment publication.
* Exceptional eye for detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* An understanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori me onā tikanga.
* Initiative and the ability to pick up new concepts, processes and systems.
* The ability to manage competing priorities.
* Resilience – there are times when you will be working on sensitive cases.

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $74,634 and $95,591 based on skills and experience.
