PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The Hatchery Maintenance Employee is responsible for supporting the maintenance and reliability of all infrastructure and equipment within Hazeldene's Hatchery. This includes performing a range of maintenance tasks, repairs, equipment checks, and minor upgrades to ensure plant performance, biosecurity compliance, and safe operation across the hatchery.
Working under the guidance of the Hatchery Maintenance Supervisor (or delegate), the Hatchery Maintenance Employee will follow maintenance schedules, respond to equipment issues, and contribute to maintaining optimal hatchery performance. The role requires a strong focus on safety, accuracy, teamwork, and proactive communication.
Hazeldene's is committed to providing appropriate training and support. The Hatchery Maintenance Employee is expected to actively participate in all training programs to develop technical capabilities and meet performance objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Hatchery Maintenance & Equipment Support
Work to verbal and/or written instructions provided by the Hatchery Maintenance Supervisor, ensuring tasks are completed effectively and safely.
Proactively raise concerns, improvement opportunities, or training needs with the Hatchery Maintenance Supervisor.
Assist with preventative maintenance of plant and equipment in line with established hatchery maintenance schedules.
Support troubleshooting of operational equipment issues to minimise hatchery downtime and maintain production flow.
Carry out minor repairs, adjustments, and upgrades to hatchery equipment as directed and within the capability of the role.
Maintain hatchery plant, equipment, and surrounding infrastructure in satisfactory working order, ensuring timely resolution of maintenance tasks.
Utilise hand tools and associated equipment safely and effectively as required for maintenance activities.
Install, adjust, or replace small mechanical components under supervision (e.g., fittings, fasteners, simple mechanical assemblies).
Assist with basic hydraulic or pneumatic tasks such as replacing hoses, fittings, or lines under direction.
Support equipment changeovers, routine checks, and calibration activities where applicable to ensure reliable hatchery operation.
Provide accurate daily updates to the Hatchery Maintenance Supervisor regarding completed tasks, identified delays, or issues requiring escalation.
Participate in the Hatchery Maintenance On-Call roster once trained and deemed competent.
Complete all required paperwork and digital records in accordance with Hazeldene's guidelines and within required timeframes.
Maintain confidentiality regarding Hazeldene's operations, systems, and business information.
