Key Responsibilities

* Coordinate planning and environmental assessment activities, including the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and approvals.
* Manage environmental risks, compliance with regulations, and implementation of CSMPs etc.
* Engage with government agencies, regulators, and community stakeholders.
* Provide strategic input to design and delivery to mitigate environmental impacts.
* Support compliance through site inspections, document reviews, and corrective actions.
* Facilitate post-approval activities and ensure environmental obligations are met.
* Prepare internal approvals, reports, and submissions to senior leadership and NSW Cabinet.
* Manage budgets, invoices, claims, and variations for planning and environmental activities.
* Lead negotiations to resolve commercial issues and secure project outcomes.

Requirements

* Tertiary qualification in environmental science, planning, engineering, or similar.
* Minimum 8 years' experience in major infrastructure projects (ideally $100m+).
* Client side experience within NSW Government preferred.
* Extensive knowledge of NSW environmental planning approvals and EPBC Act.
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
* Experience in managing project approvals including post-approvals and BDAR waivers.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Planning Approvals Manager to support the delivery of a major infrastructure project. This role is pivotal in managing environmental assessments, regulatory approvals, and stakeholder engagement to ensure successful project outcomes.

The Planning Approvals Manager will coordinate the development and exhibition of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), manage engagement with government agencies, and provide strategic input to project design to mitigate environmental impacts.

Candidates must demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management, strong negotiation skills, and a proven ability to navigate complex environmental and planning frameworks.

This role requires close collaboration with internal teams across divisions and external partners, including contractors, consultants, regulators, and community groups.
