About the Role
The Thoracic Unit at Western Health is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Thoracic Surgeon to join our dynamic and growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high‐quality clinical care to patients across Western Health, supervising and training Junior Medical Staff, and contributing to the organization's strategic priorities and ongoing clinical excellence initiatives.
The Unit provides substantial opportunities for peer review, case discussion, and multidisciplinary collaboration, supporting continuous professional development and evidence‐based practice. Recognized for its supportive and collegiate culture, the Thoracic service fosters an environment that promotes professional growth, high‐quality patient care, and strong teamwork across all perioperative and clinical areas.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert clinical care in Thoracic Surgery, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients undergoing elective and emergency procedures.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and actively contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive patient management plans.
* Supervise, mentor, and support Junior Medical Staff, including registrars, HMOs, and interns, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and professional development.

* Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Surgeons
