We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our team on a 3-month fixed term fulltime contract. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll be responsible for end-to-end financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, payroll support, and compliance with BAS, PAYG, and superannuation. You’ll also liaise with internal and external stakeholders, assist with reporting and audits, and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach.
Duties & responsibilities
* Process accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely and accurate manner
* Monitor and manage debtor accounts, including regular follow-up on outstanding invoices and proactive collection of overdue payments
* Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
* Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries
* Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports
* Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant awards and legislation
* Monitor cash flow and support budgeting and forecasting activities
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and filing systems
* Assist with internal and external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules
* Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax obligations (BAS, PAYG, superannuation), and company policies
* Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and 3rd party stakeholders
* Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
* Establishing and maintaining a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness within individual work areas.

To be successful in the position the following attributes are essential
* Proven experience in a finance or accounting role (5+ years preferred)
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Proficient in Xero accounting software and Microsoft Excel
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Proven team-oriented approach to work, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and co-ordinate information flows within the team and with other business areas.
