Primary objective: Provide professional advice and support in strengthening attendance and engagement best practices including complex case management, as well as uplift in engagement officer capabilities through quality improvement activities.
Key duties and responsibilities
* Influence and support staff to exercise best practice professional judgement and decision-making in student attendance and engagement operational policy and practice matters including complex casework.
* Manage and provide services through virtual platforms, webinars, phone and face-to-face experiences, including triaging requests from schools in the region.
* Collate and analyse practice information to identify thematic practice trends and issues.
* Contribute professional practice expertise to influence continuous improvement in attendance and engagement practices across schools and corporate teams.
* Support and guide the development and maintenance of effective partnership models to enhance educational engagement and pathways for disengaged young people.
* Promote evidence-based best practice service delivery in accordance with legislative and policy requirements.
Selection criteria
Essential
* Working knowledge of student attendance and engagement practices including compliance and enforcement activities.
* Demonstrated experience in case management and case coordination, including working with complex cases involving multi-agency approaches.
* Sound knowledge and understanding of legislation, policies, procedures, practice frameworks and issues relating to the raising attendance and engagement in an educational setting.
* Demonstrated experience in mentoring staff, providing professional advice and group facilitation, to strengthen best practices and uplift staff capabilities.
* Well-developed verbal, written, interpersonal communication knowledge and skills, including the ability to negotiate, work effectively in a small team and with the target group, and to develop and maintain relevant professional networks.
* Demonstrated knowledge of how to provide practice knowledge and policy expertise to internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and maintain effective relationships in cross-cultural contexts, particularly in remote and very remote communities in the Northern Territory (NT).
Desirable
* Ability and willingness to travel, including by 4WD and light aircraft.
* Hold a current driver's license.
