About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and driven R&D Supervisor to join our Research & Development team. This role plays a critical part in developing new products, improving existing formulations and processes, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance.
* Full-time onsite.
* Huntingwood Location (Western Sydney).
* Immediate start.
* 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
* Modify existing products and processes and develop new product formulations
* Research consumer trends, market demands, and emerging technologies to drive innovation
* Select and evaluate raw materials and ingredients from approved suppliers
* Prepare product costings based on raw material and manufacturing costs to ensure commercial viability
* Coordinate and supervise production trials and commercial-scale batches
* Approve production trial requests and material requisition forms
* Liaise with production and planning teams to schedule trials and production runs
* Raise and manage deviations and change controls relating to formulation or process changes
* Compile, review, and approve product specifications and labelling
* Investigate customer complaints and product quality issues and implement corrective actions
* Work on packaging innovation and new technologies
* Collaborate with engineering and production to resolve manufacturing issues while maintaining food safety
* Assist in training R&D and production staff
* Support performance reviews and development of team members
* Participate in cross-functional, long-term projects such as waste reduction and efficiency improvements
* Liaise with procurement, sales, technical services, marketing, distribution, and regulatory authorities
* Perform other duties as directed
About you:
You will ideally have:
* Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related discipline (Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science) is highly regarded
* Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a similar R&D or product development role
* Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity
* Experience in a manufacturing or food production environment is highly regarded
* High attention to detail, particularly in food safety, quality, and hygiene
* Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
