**Our Client and the Role**:
Our client provides innovative and specialised construction solutions across the commercial, residential high-rise, industrial, sport, healthcare, government, retail, education and tourism sectors, with a portfolio of high-profile and challenging projects.

They are seeking and experienced Design Manager to join their Canberra team for work on a number of upcoming profile projects. You will work alongside the Project Manager, Client, Consultants and Stakeholders. You will manage and execute all facets of design from pre construction, construction through to post construction works. Immediately upon commencement you will be a member of the management team and have the support needed to deliver an outstanding project.
**Skills and Experience**:
To be successful in this position you will be a proactive team player who enjoys dealing directly with clients and staff whilst ensuring both the clients and company needs are met or exceeded. Must be organised and pragmatic, as the Design Manager, you’ll be able to lead with passion and enthusiasm to ensure your team’s success. You’ll also be a confident communicator and negotiator who can work on your own initiative. Relevant tertiary qualifications are essential. You may be currently working for a mid to top tier contractor with experience in working on projects up to $50M in value and size.
**Your key responsibilities and attributes will include**:
- Coordination and management of external design consultants during the tender phase, the design phase, construction through to post contract
- Provide provide support to a strong and capable site team while overseeing programming, scheduling, and subcontractor management, WHS and client liaison
- Coaching, mentoring and supporting your team
- Ensuring projects are delivered using safe methods of work
- Overseeing all design output from the team
- Helping to monitor and control schedule and cost forecasts
- Supporting the Project Manager with the generation of proposals and cost estimates for change requests
- Writing reports and producing high quality design documentation Co-ordination and assistance of tenders associated with Design and construct of fire services.
- Resolve customer issues
- Confer with potential customers regarding needs and advise customers on types of services available
- Meet with customers to discuss their evolving needs and to assess the quality of our company’s relationship with them
- Develop and implement new design initiatives, strategies and programs to capture key demographics
- Promotion of the business with the goal of expanding market share
- Forming new and building existing client relationships with the goal of expanding market share
- Assess marketing potential of current and existing customers, considering statistics and expenditures.
- Represent company at meetings
- Work closely with your colleagues to ensure a high level of customer service and profitable growth is delivered
- Ensuring compliance to Australian Standards
