Technical Assistant - Blacktown Medical Oncology Research

Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (up to 12 months)
Position Classification: Technical Assistant Grade 2
Remuneration: $32.46 - $33.70 per hour
Hours Per Week: 38
Location: Blacktown Hospital

Blacktown Medical Oncology Research (BMOR) at Blacktown Hospital is a high-performing clinical trials unit delivering sponsored and investigator-initiated oncology research that changes lives.

What you'll be doing
In this hands-on technical role, you will support clinical trials through high-quality pathology and laboratory services that ensure protocol compliance and excellent patient care.

* Perform venepuncture and blood collection in line with best practice

* Process, handle, store and ship clinical trial specimens to protocol requirements

* Maintain accurate specimen identification, labelling and documentation

* Enter and manage clinical trial data with a high degree of accuracy

* Support efficient laboratory operations in line with Good Laboratory Practice

How to Apply
Apply online by submitting your resume and addressing the criteria listed below by providing examples that demonstrate your ability before the closing date.

* Certificate III/IV in Pathology Collections or relevant qualifications deemed suitable.

* Previous experience in pathology services including venepuncture, sample management (collection, processing and shipping) and safe laboratory working procedures.

* Knowledge and skills to perform PBMC sample processing as required or willingness to work toward same.

* Demonstrated interpersonal skills preferably in a clinical environment, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical staff.

* Demonstrated problem solving and trouble shooting skills.

* Excellent computer skills with high level competence in database entry and spreadsheets.

* Proven excellent attention to detail.

* Excellent time management skills.
