**Your new role**
Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate Communications, the Media Manager will deliver high-level strategic media direction to the department, stakeholders at an Executive level across the department and Government including but not limited to the Chief Executive, Minister's Office, Chief Public Health Officer, and other agencies. They will develop and implement comprehensive media strategies for major policies and projects, while leading, developing, and managing a dedicated media unit.
As the leader in one of the busiest media units in South Australia, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of a state-wide media framework and services across SA Health, and delivering pro-active media strategies and reactive media management including those of a potentially sensitive and/or critical nature.
**What you'll need to succeed**
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Extensive demonstrated experience in media management, with proven experience in journalism, public relations, or media liaison, preferably within a Government and/or health sector environment
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at an Executive level
- Demonstrated ability and judgement in providing strategic and innovative solutions to complex media and communications problems
- High level verbal and written communications skills to be showcased across briefings, reports, management plans, and other professional business communications
- Develop reactive media responses and issues management plans that will assist with mitigating risk, and protecting a positive profile for the department
- Demonstrated experience managing crisis communications and providing strategic media advice to key executives on complex issues and directing on risk
- Experience leading, developing and managing media professionals, identifying vital training and providing key leadership to create a positive team environment in which staff are encouraged to excel.
- Completion of a degree or diploma or post graduate diploma in communications, public relations, journalism, or similar of an Australian Institution, or comparable overseas qualification/experience.
