About The Role.
We are seeking a suitably skilled and experienced Potato Supply and Storage Manager to join our Agriculture Team at Smithton. Reporting to the Potato Supply, Storage and Operations Manager, Tasmania, this pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective storage of raw potatoes and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality raw materials to our factory. This position involves strategic management of potato storage operations, planning, logistics, and collaboration across multiple departments and external partners.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead the management and operation of McCain-operated potato storage facilities and contractors to optimise raw material supply and storage efficiency
* Champion Health & Safety culture, actively promoting compliance and safety improvements across all potato storage sites
* Uphold the Chain of Responsibility program for McCain operations
* Report and monitor key performance indicators relating to raw material quality, quantity, and storage conditions
* Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, transport operators, factory teams, and agronomists to ensure seamless supply, intake and storage processes
* Manage the day-to-day requirements of potato storage and delivery, including segregation and quality control
* Develop and implement sustainable cost advantage (SCA) plans
* Identify and resolve quality or operational issues impacting potato storage performance
* Implement and utilise new technologies, including digital systems, to support agricultural operations
* Plan and execute regular maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives in storage facilities/yard
* Support the corporate social responsibility agenda through sound management practices
What You'll Need To Be Successful
* Practical, hands-on professional who thrives in dynamic operational environments
* Proven experience in agricultural supply chain or storage management
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture or significant industry experience
* Current driver's licence
* Demonstrates adaptability to changing daily demands
* Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
* Actively involved in on-the-ground operations and oversight of storage processes
* Addresses supply challenges and works directly with suppliers, contractors, and McCain team members
* Excellent organisational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks under deadline pressures
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook)
* Builds effective relationships at all levels of the business, from farmers to factory teams
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Communicates clearly and confidently in both collaborative and high-pressure situations
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
* Comfortable working with both digital tools and manual processes
* Values safety, efficiency, and quality, contributing to a culture of innovation and compliance
* Self-driven, highly organised, and adept at prioritising multiple tasks while remaining hands-on in daily operations
