You're already a capable Fire Protection Engineer. You know how to design systems, coordinate with other disciplines and deliver projects through to completion.
But maybe right now you're stuck reviewing drawings, pigeonholed into one sector, or waiting years for the next step.
This role gives you the chance to own the fire protection design on major projects, work alongside national specialist teams and build your technical reputation on projects that will genuinely stand out on your portfolio.
You’ll be involved from early design through to documentation and construction support, collaborating with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic engineers to deliver integrated building services solutions.
And because the team is growing, you’ll also mentor junior engineers, helping shape the next generation while continuing to develop your own expertise.
Where you'll be working You’ll be joining a global multi-discipline engineering consultancy with offices across Australia, the UK, Europe and the Middle East. The business delivers integrated engineering services across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire, sustainability, civil and structural disciplines.
With hundreds of engineers nationally and thousands globally, they work across sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, aviation and mission‑critical infrastructure.
What this means for you: you'll have the backing, resources and project pipeline of a large consultancy without being stuck in a narrow technical silo.
What you'll be doing You’ll take ownership of fire protection design across a range of building projects, including
Designing fire protection systems in accordance with NCC and Australian Standards
Coordinating fire services with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic engineering teams
Producing and reviewing technical reports, drawings and specifications
Reviewing models and documentation prepared by drafters
Providing technical guidance and mentoring junior engineers
Collaborating with specialist teams nationally on complex design challenges
You’ll be designing systems including
Automatic sprinkler systems (wet, dry and pre‑action)
Fire hydrant and hose reel systems
Fire detection and emergency warning systems
Smoke control and smoke exhaust systems
Fire suppression systems including gas and water mist
Fire pumps, tanks and water supply systems
Portable extinguishers and fire blankets
What you’ll need This role would suit someone who enjoys owning their work technically and contributing to multidisciplinary design teams.
Ideally you will have
Around 5+ years' experience in fire protection engineering within a consultancy
Strong experience designing wet and dry fire protection systems
The ability to deliver fire protection design from concept through documentation
Experience across commercial or residential building projects
A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Experience working on data centre or mission‑critical projects would be advantageous but not essential.
What you’ll get in return
The opportunity to design fire systems on major Brisbane developments
Exposure to a broad range of sectors including education, aviation, commercial and infrastructure
Collaboration with Australian and international engineering specialists
Clear career pathways across technical, project leadership or management tracks
Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
Competitive salary and benefits aligned with major consultancies
