About the Role
Working in the Rockhampton/Gladstone/Central Queensland region you will be responsible for installation, servicing and maintenance of a variety of fire protection systems and electrical equipment delivering excellence in customer service.
We are seeking motivated individuals who are already in the in the fire protection industry or have an electrical trade background and are keen to gain new skills and qualifications. Firelec provides training and upskilling opportunities.

Firelec is an Fire Protection & Electrical business that began operating in 2007 and has approximately 55 employees across Rockhampton and Gladstone, Queensland. We offer a complete end to end service for design, installation and maintenance for Fire Detection, Fire Sprinkler, Fire Hydrant, Extinguishers, Hose Reels, Emergency Exit Lighting, Evacuation systems and Training, Special Hazard Systems through to all aspects of Electrical contracting works. Our services are available 24/7 for emergency callouts.
To be successful
You will have proven experience in a similar role, (or an electrical mechanic with the desire to up-skill) and this will include.
* Electrical equipment maintenance and fault finding
* Knowledge and exposure to various branded fire alarm, evacuation, VESDA, gaseous fire suppression and emergency lighting systems (desirable but not critical)
* Installation, programming and service experience of fire alarm & special hazards suppression systems (a distinct advantage)
* Effectively manage available time and resources and be proactive in problem solving and troubleshooting
* Achieve full compliance to service delivery and procedural requirements, including quality, EH&S, Ethics and Trade Practices
* Survey customer assets and recommend fire protection and safety systems upgrades and repairs
* Identify, service, and repair fire protection and safety systems and equipment in accordance with Australian Standards and manufacturer recommendations
* Report work progress and performance by completing productivity and key performance indicator reports
About You
* The capacity to work a 38-hour week with RDO's
* Up to date product and industry knowledge, and an understanding of where to locate the relevant information
* A solid knowledge of the Australian Standards for maintenance and installation of fire alarm and evac systems (not a requirement for new starters)
* Fire alarm systems programming experience (advantageous)
* A technical or trade competency with the ability to complete identified company, industry and occupational training and accreditation
* The ability to travel overnight and be part of an on-call roster
* QLD Electrical Mechanics License or equal
* QBCC Electrical stream and or Special Hazards stream licence (advantageous)
* ACMA Licence, restricted or open (advantageous)
* Current Driver's license
Desired attributes you have:
* An Electrical background with the ability to fault find, interpret operational & technical product manuals, schematics and drawings. Have the ability to learn new skills and work with a team.
* Knowledge of AS 1851, AS 1670, AS 3000 (advantageous)
* Previous experience in fire systems, electrical equipment, inspections & maintenance (advantageous)
* Up to date product and industry knowledge with Vigilant, Notifier, Ampac, Pertronic and other prominent fire system brands (advantageous)
* Special hazards fan testing accreditation and experience (advantageous)
