The Opportunity
Our client, a Council in North West NSW, is looking for a Project Manager to lead a sensitive and high-impact Derelict Houses Remediation Program. This isn't just a demolition project; it's a site remediation program that requires a balance of technical grit and community empathy.
Hudson are offering a competitive hourly rate depending on experience and are open to discussing the role with those who operate through their own ABN.
The requirement is currently for someone 3 days per week but this could be extended depending on the candidate. If you are only after 5 days per week I still wish to hear from you.
Accommodation will be provided for those traveling for this contract.
The Role
* Technical Lead: Manage complex site remediations involving hazardous materials (asbestos) and structural instability.
* Compliance Expert: Navigate NSW local government regulations, safety protocols, and procurement frameworks.
* Community Liaison: Engage with property owners and neighbours professionally, showing high levels of empathy in sensitive situations.
* Program Driver: Coordinate demolition contractors to ensure funding is effectively utilized by June 30.
The Ideal Candidate
* Resilient & Empathetic: You have a proven track record of managing 'tough' conversations in diverse or sensitive community contexts.
* Statutory Savvy: You understand the legal weight of Notices and Orders and can apply legal advice to operational decisions.
* Safety First: You are comfortable on-site, identifying risks in fire-damaged structures and overseeing safe disposal.
* Flexible: Able to be based in the region 3 days per week (Accommodation & Vehicle provided).
* Experienced: Someone with experience working for a local government council in a similar capacity will be highly regarded.
Why This Role?
This is a chance to use your senior project management skills to make a tangible difference in a regional community's safety and streetscape. You'll have the autonomy to run the program with full administrative and technical support from Council.
