About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety's (DJCS) Strategic Communication delivers communication services on behalf of the department's business units to inform and educate the community about departmental policies, programs and legislation.
About the Role
Working in SC's Public Affairs Team, the Adviser, Media provides media and communication support and advice to the department's business units, senior executives and ministerial offices.
**The Adviser, Media some of your duties include**:
- Preparing media releases, speeches and communication products to support departmental and ministerial events
- Proactively promotes department initiatives and policies through the media
- Drafts and responds to media enquiries
- Monitors and distributes media coverage.
About You
- A range of complex reports and recommendations on relevant issues, which are evidence based, and provide a sound basis for decision-making.
- Verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders, customers, peers, managers and subordinates is vital to ensure a common understanding of information, issues and concepts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of State Government and departmental communication policies and processes.
- Demonstrated experience managing media enquiries and working with regional and metropolitan news media.
Qualification/Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in journalism, public relations or other communication-related discipline is desirable.
