Your role at St John of God Social Outreach
We are currently seeking motivated Youth Workers to join our Horizon House service in East Geelong, on a casual basis.
This will be a sleep over position and will cover annual/sick leave on an ADHOC basis.
Our Youth Residential Caregivers work in a residential care setting alongside the Support Coordinator, providing intensive support and advocacy to our residents. Responsibilities include coordinating, developing, and implementing the Independent Living Skills Program to meet the individual needs of residents during their stay at Horizon House.
The Position
1. Provide safe and stable long-term accommodation to young people at risk of homelessness.
2. Offer outreach, therapeutic, and practical support to meet the continuum of care for young people with complex needs.
3. Assist young people in realizing their aspirations and integrating into mainstream society.
4. Support young people in areas such as independent living skills, education, training, and employment.
5. Enhance wellbeing and personal development through engagement with community resources.
6. Monitor and respond to the supportive and developmental needs of young people, considering their culture, gender, and developmental stage.
7. Engage empathetically with young people to maintain strong relationships for effective case management outcomes.
You should have an understanding of adolescents' special needs and trauma-informed care, with recent experience working with at-risk youth, extensive youth work experience, and knowledge of Privacy Legislation and OH&S Regulations.
Applicants must hold a Certificate IV in Youth Work or similar, a valid Driver's Licence, First Aid Certificate, and Working with Children Card.

* Salary: $46.67 to $51.81 per hour (including casual loading) plus 12% superannuation
