Chris Waller Racing Ltd is hiring skilled horse staff for full‐time positions across NSW, Victoria, and QLD. The role involves training and managing horse operations for thoroughbred racing.
Positions
* Young Horse Trainer/Rider – responsible for riding 8–10 horses per morning with emphasis on pace/work and jump outs.
* Young Horse Educator/Rider/2nd Foreperson – responsible for ground training of young horses, swimming and barrier education.
* Horse Trainer/2nd Foreperson – responsible for ground training of young horses and managing a small team of horses and staff under the head foreperson.
Salary will be above award, ranging from $70,000 to $95,000 per annum depending on experience and responsibility level.
Essential Skills
* Relevant qualification and at least 2 years full‐time (or equivalent part‐time) professional experience; or, lacking a qualification, a minimum of 3 years equivalent professional experience in the role.
* Reliable work ethic with excellent horsemanship skills.
* Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing.
* Proven ability to train and educate young horses.
* Oral and written communication skills sufficient to receive instruction and provide information.
* Ability to work in a team and independently.
* Knowledge of protected operation of equipment and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) relevant to a racing business.
* Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in secure operation of equipment for racehorse training and preparation.
Additional Requirements
* Ability to work independently or with proven management experience if the position is for a foreperson role.
