Basketball WA has unveiled a landmark Performance and Pathways Strategy 2025–2028, marking a new era of reform and alignment across Western Australia's high‑performance basketball system. To support the delivery of this new strategic plan, a General Manager, Performance and Pathways, will be appointed.
The Role
The GMPP leads the delivery and ongoing implementation of Basketball WA's Performance & Pathways Strategy, ensuring the system overachieves by design through the integration of elite talent development environments, strong foundations, and local adaptation. This role provides leadership, strategic alignment, and operational management of the Performance & Pathways department, ensuring that programs and personnel deliver on the objectives of the Strategy and the broader BWA Strategic Plan under the Win Well pillar. The GMPP will work closely with the Chief Basketball Officer to deliver BWA's performance objectives, represent BWA on key advisory groups, and provide high‑level advice on system leadership, performance alignment, and strategic outcomes.

Qualifications Required
Work Experience
1. Minimum 5 years' experience managing, administering, leading, or coaching in a high‑performance sports environment or equivalent.
2. Australian 'work rights' (or can quickly obtain).
3. Current WA "C – class" motor vehicle licence.
4. Detailed understanding of the state and national level basketball ecosystem.
5. Minimum Association level (formerly level 2) basketball coach qualification.
6. Tertiary related degree (or equivalent) in leadership, management or sports.
* Experience successfully leading and managing performance and/or development teams in complex and dynamic environments.
* Strong leadership skills, with proven success in the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of cultural and organisational change.
* A comprehensive understanding of the Australian performance ecosystem (particularly basketball), including the interrelationships at local, state and national level.
* A detailed understanding of performance‑specific technology (EG video‑capture and analysis software) to enhance the delivery of operational objectives, and to ensure adequate training and support is provided to stakeholders.
* Demonstrated strategic thinking and action orientation, with the ability to translate vision into measurable outcomes.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to build and nurture positive relationships and strategic partnerships across diverse stakeholders.
* Contemporary leadership skills with the ability to inspire and influence.
* An authentic, driven individual with high levels of resilience and self‑awareness.
* Demonstrated capability in financial management and governance.
* Ability to effectively plan and prioritise work and maximise the use of internal and external resources to maximise potential outcomes.
* Capacity to produce executive reports and associated commentary.
