Multimedia journalist – community & health partnership

McPherson Media Group, is one of regional Australia's leading independent media organisations, producing trusted local journalism across digital and social platforms as well as print (including Shepparton News and several other mastheads).

We are seeking an experienced multimedia journalist to take the lead in delivering high-quality content as part of a dedicated partnership. The role is strictly on site, based in Shepparton.

This is a crucial, strategic role and we are looking for a confident content professional who can work independently, build strong stakeholder relationships, and produce engaging, accurate and audience‐focused journalism across print, digital and social platforms.

The role reports to MMG's Director, Content and Audience and forms part of our broader digital‐first newsroom strategy.

Working closely with the organisation's communications team, and supported by MMG's editorial leadership, you will:

• Identify and develop compelling people‐centred stories
• Research, write and edit long- and short‐form content for print and digital
• Produce video and social media assets aligned to audience strategy
• Translate complex information into clear, engaging narratives
• Contribute to regular print features as well as digital‐first content
• Benefit from the support of the Shepparton News newsroom

You will bring:

• 3+ years of experience in journalism, communications or digital media
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Proven ability to produce multimedia content, including video
• Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
• Sound judgement and a strong understanding of audience needs
• Willingness to adapt and balance editorial standards with strategic communication objectives
