About Us
Our client is an established engineering organisation is seeking a skilled Mechanical Drafter (Solidworks) to support its design and manufacturing functions. In this role, you will create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings, assist engineers with design development, and help prepare documentation required for production across both local and international projects.
You will work closely with Mechanical Designers and Engineers, transforming concepts and models into clear, accurate documentation used by workshop and manufacturing teams.
About the role:
Produce high‑quality technical documentation using CAD and drafting software.
Interpret sketches, specifications and 3D models provided by engineers and designers.
Assist in product design, incorporating engineering and manufacturing principles.
Specify dimensions, materials, and processes for new components and assemblies.
Prepare SOPs and equipment operation manuals under engineering supervision.
Collate profile and machine packs for third‑party suppliers.
Create multiple drawing versions for reviews and design improvements.
Develop small designs or standard library components using 3D CAD tools.
Provide reports and analysis as requested by the Engineering Manager.
Support general engineering administration tasks, including folder management and BoM creation.
Perform additional duties as required by management
Skills and Experience:
Tertiary qualification in drafting or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in SolidWorks is a MUST.
Understanding of relevant Australian Standards (e.g., AS1210 / AS2809).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently with initiative and attention to detail.
Proven ability to meet and exceed performance targets.
Commitment to quality, accuracy, and ownership of work outcomes.
