The Role
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this is a broad Financial Accountant position responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations and monthly reporting across the group.
This role will suit someone who enjoys working autonomously, thrives in a deadline-driven environment, and wants exposure to end-to-end finance within the construction sector.
Responsibilities
Prepare monthly Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports
Complete full balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare job costing and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports
Conduct detailed P&L analysis and identify cost-saving opportunities
Process subcontractor claims (RCTIs)
Prepare and post monthly journals
Perform bank reconciliations
Manage client retentions and follow up outstanding invoices
Issue and track bank guarantees
Prepare and lodge compliance reporting (GST, PAYG, FBT, payroll tax, superannuation, TPAR, etc.)
Maintain the fixed asset register
Assist with payroll processing and timesheet management
Support insurance claims administration
Identify process and technology improvement opportunities
Assist with ad hoc finance projects as required
The Candidate
CA/CPA qualified or working towards qualification
Experience in construction, building, or project-based environments highly regarded
Strong technical accounting knowledge
Proven experience preparing management reports and reconciliations
High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
Resilient, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced industry
Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with operational stakeholders
Motivated, accountable and able to work autonomously
