We're seeking an experienced and resilient Financial Controller to lead our Finance function, partner with senior leadership, and ensure accuracy, compliance and transparency across all financial activities.
About the Role
Reporting to the Country Manager (Managing Director) Australia with a dotted line to the Regional Head of Finance APAC & MEA, the Financial Controller will oversee all financial management, reporting and governance for the Australian business.
You'll provide both strategic and operational support to leadership through budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and performance reporting - enabling informed decision-making and sustainable business growth.
This role also manages day-to-day finance operations, ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and drives continuous improvement in financial processes. With direct responsibility for a Management Accountant (Australia) and offshore Shared Services support, this position is both hands-on and people-focused.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead, coach and support the Finance team, building a high-performing, collaborative culture.
Oversee all financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with group requirements.
Provide insights and commentary on monthly results, forecasts and margins to support decision-making.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and profitability reviews.
Oversee treasury, banking and cash-flow forecasting, including hedging and bank guarantees.
Manage tax compliance (BAS, FBT, income tax returns, Country by Country reporting (CbC) and audit requirements.
Drive process improvements, cost control and system enhancements (ERP and Concur).
Manage insurance, leases, inventory and fleet finance responsibilities.
What We're Looking For
Minimum 15 years' accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification.
Proven success leading finance teams in a multinational or matrix organisation.
Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise.
Demonstrated experience in intercompany transactions, transfer pricing and CbC reporting.
Proficiency in foreign currency transactions, hedging and bank guarantees.
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and present complex data.
Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment with frequent, sometimes out-of-hours demands.
A hands-on, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
Experience in project-focused, professional services or engineering / manufacturing industries and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics and SAP Concur are real advantages.
