Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Power Electronics Engineer to take ownership of the design and development of advanced high-voltage, high-frequency power conversion systems. This is a senior technical leadership role where you will guide a team in delivering cutting-edge AC/DC and DC/DC converter solutions for next-generation applications.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design, simulation, and development of high-voltage, high-frequency AC/DC and DC/DC power converters.
* Define system architecture and topologies for efficient, reliable, and scalable power solutions.
* Perform detailed circuit design, modelling, and simulation (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar).
* Lead prototype build, testing, and validation, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
* Drive design optimisation for thermal performance, efficiency, EMC/EMI, and reliability.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering innovation and excellence.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
* Oversee design documentation, design reviews, and compliance certification processes.
* Keep up to date with emerging technologies, standards, and best practices in power electronics.
Skills and Experience
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related discipline.
* Proven experience in power electronics design, specifically high-voltage (up to several kV) and high-frequency conversion.
* Strong track record developing AC/DC and DC/DC converters (topologies such as full-bridge, resonant, multilevel, etc.).
* Proficiency with power electronics simulation and design tools (PSIM, PLECS, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink).
* Deep understanding of magnetics design, gate drivers, thermal management, and PCB layout for high-power applications.
* Familiarity with international safety and compliance standards (IEC, UL, EMC/EMI).
* Hands-on lab skills for testing, debugging, and validation of prototypes.
* Excellent problem-solving ability and technical decision-making skills.
* Leadership experience in guiding teams or projects.
Nice to Have
* Experience with SiC or GaN semiconductor technologies.
* Knowledge of renewable energy, EV, aerospace, or industrial power systems.
* Experience with digital control of power converters (DSP/FPGA).
* PhD in Power Electronics or related field.
