**_An exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team in General Medicine is now available at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital._**
**About the Role**
This role is supported by a cooperative unit compromising of a multi-disciplinary team with skills in general medicine, cardiology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, endocrinology, renal medicine, neurology, geriatrics and infectious diseases.
The Visiting Medical Officer will provide expert medical assessment and management to patients within General Medicine. The position will have a primary site of Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital, however other facilities within ISLHD may be granted as approved by the Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
In addition to providing a high level of care in General Medicine, it is highly desirable that you will bring an area of subspecialty expertise to enhance the breadth and depth of services available in the district.
**About the Hospital**
Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital is currently undergoing a significant expansion, with a vision of becoming a state-of-the-art health facility. The proposed $438 million redevelopment will provide ample opportunities for new services, such as cardiology, mental health, aged care wards, increased operating theatres and new emergency department.
Currently, the hospital is a busy acute care facility, which provides emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services to around 22,000 patients each year. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit that incorporates High Dependency and Coronary Care beds and also provides Emergency Department services. As well as these clinical services, the hospital has a busy Obstetric Unit, and also provides services for children under 16 years of age.
Shoalhaven Hospital is affiliated with the University of Wollongong, providing opportunities for teaching and research through the Graduate School of Medicine.

**Selection Criteria**
- Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and demonstrated subspecialty training in General Medicine and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
- Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.
