We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our people.The OpportunityThe Team Leader, Financial and Asset Accounting is accountable to the Manager, Financial and Procurement Systems and Operations, for leading the delivery of asset accounting and financial reporting services to the Department.The Team Leader will develop, implement, and evaluate innovative solutions to asset accounting and financial reporting issues, engage in broader continuous improvement initiatives and work with senior staff across the Department to determine priorities.The Team Leader will lead a team to undertake the following functional scope:Manage and undertake asset accounting for the entire asset accounting cycle (inclusive of lease accounting and major revaluations).Manage the preparation of departmental financial statements subject to audit (controlled, administered, commonwealth certificates, etc) and specific purpose financial reports where required.Oversee banking arrangements.Prepare financial accounting related discussion papers, determination of application of accounting standards, and lead preparation of, in collaboration with all other finance functions, financial policies `FP'.Provide expert advice in asset accounting and financial reporting to all stakeholders internal and external.Manage the external audit of the financial statements.If this sounds like you and you are ready to take on this opportunity to contribute to the success of our agency, then we invite you to apply for this position.QualificationsFull membership/accreditation with professional accounting body (e.g. CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand).Qualifications in Accounting, Economics, Commerce or equivalent.Special ConditionsThe successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.Application InstructionsApplications can be submitted online by clicking the 'Apply now' button.Applicants are required to submit a CV and a cover letter of no more than 2 pages addressing the selection criteria in the attached role statement.Our CommitmentThe Department for Infrastructure and Transport is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to building a diverse and inclusive culture across the department, planning for and promoting diversity and a culturally safe workplace.
