Job Opportunity:
We are seeking a seasoned in-house counsel to lead our investigative and litigation functions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct investigations into complaints about legal practitioners under the Legal Profession Act 2006 (ACT).
* Develop and manage a team to undertake investigations, mediation, and litigation while fostering a collaborative service-focused culture.
* Engage with stakeholders through clear professional communication.
* Provide timely legal advice and briefing notes for decision-making bodies on investigation, discipline, and litigation matters.
* Draft and file applications with the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) and appear on behalf of the organization as required.
Requirements:
* Admission as a solicitor of an Australian Supreme Court with a current unrestricted practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
* Extensive experience in litigation and court advocacy.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with expertise in interpreting legislation case law and regulatory rules.
* Sound judgment in assessing and resolving factual and legal issues.
