About the role
We're looking for an experienced and driven HR Business Partner to join our Human Resources team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover a parental leave period.
This role provides a unique opportunity to work closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams across the business, playing a key role in delivering both operational and strategic HR support. You will support the Head of HR and oversee the recruitment and HR administration functions.
This role requires someone with a strong understanding of Australian employment law, who can confidently manage complex matters and is comfortable working at both a strategic and hands-on level.
Role Responsibilities
* Partner with business leaders to provide high-quality HR advice and guidance
* Coach and support leaders on performance, development, ER/IR and change matters.
* Manage employee relations and industrial relations matters in accordance with the Fair Work Act, NES and applicable Modern Awards.
* Providing coaching and support to junior members of the HR team on various areas of HR.
* Oversee recruitment and administrative processes ensuring they are consistent, efficient and compliant.
* Lead the end-to-end management of employee relations matters, including grievances, complaints, and investigations.
* Drive engagement and performance initiatives, including Culture Amp surveys, performance reviews, and other HR programs.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver key people initiatives such as succession planning, mentoring, career development, and coaching.
* Review, create and maintain HR policies and contracts to ensure compliance with relevant employment laws.
* Manage the HR-payroll partnership to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* 5+ years' experience as a HR Business Partner or similar position.
* Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation and HR best practice (including the Fair Work Act, NES, Modern Awards and casual employment laws.).
* Proven experience managing ER/IR matters with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
* Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
* Progressive HR operations experience, preferably in a tech start-up or similar fast-paced environment.
* Experience leading or overseeing recruitment and HR operations.
* Effectively manage relationships with internal stakeholders across HR and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on business priorities.
* Proficiency in using HR systems (e.g. Employment Hero, Culture Amp) with the ability to leverage data for insights and reporting.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
* Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
